Penance, penance, penance! *
This was my message given in the grotto of Massabielle** and it is the message that I continually give through the Calls to Love and Conversion.
The golden roses that I presented on my feet*** and that I now present in my Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart are an eternal call to penance.
Penance means to endure the trials, crosses and difficulties of ordinary life, but to be faithful to Jesus in spite of these trials and crosses. In this penance, one must offer sufferings and trials of the state of life; offer diseases and even temptations as a pleasant offering for my son Jesus. Penance is to be faithful to my son and his Gospel in the state of life where my children are.
A great gift was given to the world at Lourdes, the gift of penance. Penances offered to my son, through my hands, save souls and sanctify the life of the one who offers them.
A vision was presented to Sister Lucia of Fatima: the Holy Trinity with my crucified son and from his side flowed the words ‘Grace and Mercy’; these words, formed with crystalline water, I have brought them into my garden, blessing the Fountain of Grace and Mercy, for the healing of the soul and body of my children. Offer your lives in penance for the conversion of poor sinners, and for those who are still living, to become apostles of our Sacred Hearts.
Dear children, be witnesses to my Calls to Love and Conversion.
As Mother of Lourdes and with my Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart I bless you.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Hail Mary Most Pure conceived without original sin.
* On Wednesday, February 24, 1858, the Virgin exclaimed three times: Penance, Penance, Penance! And she made Saint Bernadette Soubirous repeat these words.
** A grotto that was the garbage dump of the village of Lourdes, and from that place of garbage would be born a source of grace and healing for all humanity.
*** On Thursday, February 11, 1858, the first apparition, the Virgin wore a white, shiny suit of an unknown fabric, adjusted to the waist with a blue ribbon; long white veil fell to the feet wrapping the whole body. Two bright golden roses covered the upper part of the Blessed Virgin’s feet.
