God the Father commanded the people that every first-born son be circumcised, as a symbol of the Covenant of the Chosen People with God. Circumcision was the rite by which the children of Israel prolonged the covenant with God the Father.
That day, God too, who became a Child, humbly submitted to the rite. I, his adoptive father, carried him in my arms to the altar where God the Child would also be circumcised. God humbled himself. God was the first to submit himself to the law, because he too, being God, is obedient. My heart was opened with sorrow to see the child pouring his blood on the altar, prophesying that on the Altar of Calvary, by shedding his blood, he would save all mankind.
As his Father in the law, by command of God the Father, I imposed on him the name of Jesus, a name which means: God saves. And certainly, Jesus came for this, he came to save. Meditate deeply on this, God from his birth humbled himself profoundly. He was the first to obey, to suffer, because he is the firstborn and the first fruit that saves all men. So, always remember that God also is the first to be humble and his heart is more human, more sensitive than the heart of this generation.
Worship this precious name of Jesus, because it is written: That every knee shall bow before this name and that heaven, earth, and abysses, shall worship this name. When you can say no more, when you are tired and burdened, when you are in despair and without peace, just say with your heart: Jesus. And this is already a powerful prayer. Therefore, may the highest, holiest, most adorable, most precious, most powerful name of Jesus be eternally adored and loved.
Engrave in your mind, in your heart, and also in your deeds, this name of Jesus, and under that mighty name I give you the blessing.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
