July 25, 2022 – CALL TO LOVE AND CONVERSION FROM SAINT CHARBEL

Praise be to the Sacred Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ.

Apostles of the United Sacred Hearts:

The Trinitarian Unity is the center of the faith and the great mystery of the Church.

The Tender and Merciful Father, the Sacred Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit Paraclete, three distinct persons, each with his own way of proceeding, but they are One God and Lord.

The Trinitarian Alliance is profoundly united to the Alliance of Jesus and Mary.

The apostles of these Two Sacred Hearts must elevate themselves to the Most Holy Trinity, and the Path to this Trinitarian Alliance is through the Holy Mansions of Sanctity of the United Sacred Hearts.

I, Saint Charbel, pray for you, that you may understand the great Gift that God has given you through the Apostolate.

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A man who offered his life to spirituality.

Charbel of Makhlouf was a devout monk whose miracles earned him his beatification in 1965 by Pope Paul VI and his canonization by the Catholic Church in 1977 by the same Holy Father. In this way, he became the first Lebanese saint before the Holy See.

Saint Maron, 300 B.C.

Saint Maron was born as a saint in Aleppo (Syria), being a hermit. His work consisted in preaching the good faith and making known a completely fresh point of view to the predominant one in those times; together with these talks and predictions there was a large congregation of people, thus achieving an important number of devotees. At this time, an important change began in the Middle Eastern church. The idea of St. Maron, contrary to that of the Monophysites, preached that Jesus was God and human, who felt pain, evil and sickness. For this reason, the belief of St. Maron was shared by an important congregation, giving it the name “Maronites”.

The beginnings of the Maronites are known in the mountains, led by John Maron, this with the purpose of protecting their closest ones from the ideologies of other communities. Their main characteristics are: family and prayer group, they live close to their church. Devotion is one of the strongest emblems of this religion. Education is also important for them, starting in the field, as well as spirituality, which translates into prayer.

A miraculous monk

Saint Charbel began his incursion as a Maronite monk in 1851, at the age of 20. One of the most important messages he transmits to us is that of the history of the Lebanese. Since he was a child, he took care of a cave with the image of the Virgin Mary (widely adored by this people). He lived in a school of faith, with clear concepts within his religion, always obeying his superiors and deciding to be a hermit. This choice on the part of Saint Charbel led him to a strict regime. His life was based on specific prayer schedules, so that his prayers took place at 3:00 AM, 7:00 AM, 1:00 PM, etc. He ate only vegetables grown by him and did not speak a word except at mass.

The most fantastic facts about this saint are his miracles. Many people have witnessed them. The most outstanding one was that, despite the symbolic date of his death (December 25), the body of St. Charbel has remained incorrupt. Days after his death, several monks began to notice that a bloody oil began to emanate from his tomb; once the crypt was opened, they discovered the man suspended in this water. The body was cleaned and moved; however, this event was repeated.

One of the best-known miracles of this monk is that of Nohad El Chami, a Lebanese woman paralyzed by hemiplegia. She was 55 years old and suffered from an incurable disease. One night in January 1993, she had a dream in which two monks approached her bed, one of them was St. Charbel, who walked up to her and put his fingers on her throat, indicating that he was coming to operate, to which she replied: “It is not necessary, since the doctors have already told me that there is nothing that can be done”. Even so, it is said that St. Charbel proceeded with this operation, and, once it was finished, the woman was able to walk. This visit by St. Maron and St. Charbel has remained engraved in the memory of this woman, for his fingers were marked on her neck, where it is said that this saint touched her.
